I did it! I’m headed to grad school! It took a bunch of applications and quite a bit of uncertain waiting, but after being accepted into a few different programs, I’ve chosen La Universidad Autónoma in Madrid. Big city living here I come! I’ve never lived in a city larger than 300,000 people, so this is going to be a big change, albeit an exciting one. I’ll be doing a program on East Asian Studies with a focus on China and Chinese history. I’m so incredibly excited and nervous ;) The master will be majority in Spanish, with a few courses of Chinese language study. I didn't get into any of the translation degrees I applied for because the official C1 results didn’t arrive in time for the universities to considered me a candidate. That's ok though, I'm super excited about this degree. And.... I’m not too worried about doing it in Spanish, since I just received the results from the Spanish C1 DELE language exam I took back in April and…..I PASSED!! It’s going to be an intense and challenging year, but I’m so ready to go back to school and get back into studying (we’ll see how long that sentiment lasts ;) ). I’ll continue to teach English online and maybe pick up some odd jobs to cover the costs of living in Madrid, which I’m really not prepared for yet. -_-
I’m currently in the process of getting my visa renewed and hoping to get approval to return to the US for a few weeks this summer while my visa is still in process. I will be getting my second dose of the covid vaccin (which will be Pfizer) very soon. I’m still not thrilled with flying during Covid Times, but I haven’t been back to the States in 3 years and I miss my family and friends so much! I am so privileged to be where I am now and to be starting something new and exciting. Thanks to my wonderful friends, and family for putting up with my crazy ideas and being there to support me every step of the way. Hugs to everyone!
