Technically called the Cultural Ambassador program in English, this grant provided by the Spanish government to public schools in Spain, brings recently graduated native english speakers into the schools to be conversation/immersion assistants. My placement is in an elementary school in a small town in Basque Country, Spain- about 15 minutes from the city of Logroño. You can be placed anywhere in Spain and if you want to find more information on the program and it's requirements, check out their website: https://www.mecd.gob.es/eeuu/convocatorias-programas/convocatorias-eeuu/auxiliares-conversacion-eeuu.html
I will be doing a post tomorrow on the whole process and helpful tips, but I have to get through my visa appointment this week first. Before my job starts in Basque Country, I'll be in Madrid for a month doing a CELTA course to get certified to teach english as a second language. If you can't tell from reading my posts, I really need to brush up on my grammar. ;) CELTA is a type of TEFL/TESOL certification that comes from the University of Cambridge and is very intense. Classes and teaching practicums will be 8-6 every day for 6 days a week. Homework and lesson planning will take place in the evenings outside of class. I know it will be a challenge, but I'm excited to see how it all goes-- I'll see you all on the other side! ;) Best, Nadia Comments are closed.
